DANUBIAN SCREENWRITTING WORKSHOP
28 August – 1 September, Ruzicka’s House
Danubian Screenwriting Workshop at VFF has been held since 2009. Its mentor is Croatian Dramatist and Scriptwriter Mrs. Irena Krcelic, co-founder of screenwriting workshop “Palunko” in 2002, under the Croatian Film Club Association. “Palunko” screenwriting program is celebrating tenth anniversary. Danube screenwriting workshop is a five-day free of charge workshop.
The workshop gives upcoming screenwriters an opportunity to work intensively on the development of their short feature film scripts. The writers receive support of the mentor also as a support of various film professionals attending the festival. The workshop is held in a safe environment that encourages both innovation and creative risk-taking. Every year around 20th June we announce the workshop contest through various media (newspapers, press releases, VFF website). The applicants have to write their own story on any given subject . This year we are introducing advanced workshop for those who have already completed the script for a short story which will be developed further with a mentor at the workshop.
Mrs Krcelic chooses top five applicants with a particular talent for writing to participate during the festival and develop their own screenplays. A basic criterion on choosing participants is the quality and a particular originality of their story. Besides writing all day and developing their ideas into real scenarios, participants watch movies from the festival program, talk with film professionals who present their films at VFF and by that, they establish a unique film experience par excellence.
