City on the Danube lives together with Vukovar Film Festival that has become and stayed the region’s most popular summer event. On the press conference in Vukovar on occasion of the 10th Vukovar Film Festival, festival director Igor Rakonić and mayor of the City of Vukovar, Ivan Penava, Dario Borovac for the main sponsor Croatian Telecom, Maria Grbanović for sponsor Borovo and Zrinka Šesto for Waterbus Bajadera and Danubium Tours spoke in front of members of the press.
Igor Rakonić concluded that Vukovar Film Festival has become one of the strongest festivals in Croatia and in the region in the last ten years, both in its programming and its atmosphere. When asked why are new cities included beside Vukovar (Osijek and Beli Manastir) he said that there are so many bundles of quality films they to be seen by the maximum number of people.
„This festival is the highest in quality so far, evident from films such as the winner of Cannes „I,Daniel Blake! by Ken Loach and Canner Best director awardee, „Graduation“ by Cristian Mungiu that is included in the festival competition programme.“
Mayor to Vukovar, Ivan Penava said that he can hardly wait for the start of the festival, as the festival has become the most popular city event.
Dario Borovac said that Croatian Telecom has been with the festival from the humble beginning with seven titles, and that today this has grown into a respectable eighty titles which are mostly premieres.
Marija Grbanović speaking for one of the sposors, Borovo, said that this is the seventh year of cooperation and that for that jubilee a new tenis shoe design has been prepared in the blue festival colour.
Zrinka Šesto, speaking for Waterbus Bajadera, pointed out to nine years of cooperation with the Festival and announced the new festival location, cruising boat Bajadera with glass walls, which will screen titles from the programme Selected by Đelo Hadžiselimović.
Festival begins on Monday, 22nd of August and will last until Saturday, 27th of August.
