This was clearly evident on Wednesday, when two films that competed for Palm d'Or where screened here – „Toni Erdmann“ by German director Maren Ade and „Julieta“ by spanish director Pedro Almodovar. Almodovar is of course known to all, but not everybody knows about Maren Ade, the biggest sensation of this year in Cannes.

 „Toni Erdmann“, story on a father that seeks to restore close relations to his daughter at all costs while working in a big corporation won the best rating from the critics and was considered the main favourit for Palm d'Dor until the last festival day. In a strange turn of events, all the award managed to miss this film, which was unclear to all.

In Vukovar Film Festival competition, this film is one of the favourites for the award.

Film „Julieta“ by Pedro Almodovar is not in award competition in Vukovar but it raised and incredible interes with the audience. Almodovar returns to his favourite subject – women with life dilemas.  In „Julieta“ he portrays a woman whose daughted abandoned her years ago without and explanation and she questions where she made the mistake.

In documentary competition, a Czech film „NK Roma“ about a football club made of Roma starting from the lowest football legue in Czech that encounter rasist prejudices and obstacles. Film was at Karlovy Vary and after that it is screened in Vukovar, and presented by its director Tomaš Bojar.

During the late hours the audience rests from these subjects on festival parties. You should see the concert performanse from The Frajle who came from Novi Sad and raised ovation from 600 people in Radnički dom – the fun never ends in Vukovar.
