Who sees an exclusive Croatian premiere of new Woody Allen each summer? Straight from Cannes red carpet to Vukovar's park of the Eltz castle – Cannes laureate „I, Daniel Blake“ directed by Ken Loach and „Cafe Society“ by Woody Allen
Vukovar Film Festival – Danube Region Film Festival will take place this year from 22nd to 27th of August, and will be filled, as it does every year, with film and music experiences not only in Vukovar, but also in Osijek, Beli Manastir and Vučedol. As in the last years, this year also premiere many of the best films that won awards on festivals in Cannes, Beriln, Karlovy Vary and so on. Therefore we are proud to announce that two of the first films to have a Croatian premiere in Vukovar are „Cafe Society“ the new Woody Allen that has opened this year's Cannes film festival and „I, Daniel Blake“ by Ken Loach, that won Palm d'Or.
„Cafe Society „ is the mixture of comedy and drama set in the last century in the thirties when Bobby Dofman (Jesse Eisenberg) leave for Los Angeles to find a job in film industry where his uncle (Steve Carell) is an extremely influential agent. Bobby will soon fall in love with a girl (Kristen Stewart) that has a boyfriend, without knowing that this boyfriend is his uncle Phil.
„I, Daniel Blake“ is a British drama about a carpenter Daniel Blake, an 59-year-old widower that is unable to work after a fall from the scaffolds and a heart attack and has to receive the help from the state. At that time, the bureaucratic network will take over and unable him to achieve his rights. In the process he becomes close to single mum Katie and her two children, that incounter similar problems. For director Ken Loach this is the second Palme d'Or in his carrier, won by unison support of the critics and audience that praise the film in Cannes.
These are just two of a great number of excellent titles that will screen this this year on Vukovar Film Festival, and the final list will be published on press conference on August 16th.
