Storyline

That Sugar Film is one man’s journey to discover the bitter truth about sugar. Damon Gameau embarks on a unique experiment to document the effects of a high sugar diet on a healthy body, consuming only foods that are commonly perceived as ‘healthy’. Sweets, chocolate, ice cream and soda were out, but fruit smoothies, yoghurt with granola and the whole array of 'light' products were fair game.Through this entertaining and informative journey, Damon highlights some of the issues that plague the sugar industry, and where sugar lurks on supermarket shelves. That Sugar Film will forever change the way you think about ‘healthy’ food.

Before making his feature directing debut with That Sugar Film, Damon Gameau was best known as an actor in Australian television and movies, with appearances in projects such as The Tracker, the controversial television series Raw, and Vermin, for which he won the Best Australian Actor award at the 2007 Sydney Underground Film Festival. His short film Animal Beatbox won the competition at the 2011 Tropfest Film Festival.
