At the beginning the festival started with the fact that no real cinema existed in the city and Danube river as specifical location in which Vukovar is settled. Therefore one of the biggest challenges in each year is to build and find new and innovative locations for festival screening locations.
Zero location of the first festival - Danube barge is the symbol by which the festival is recognised from the beginning in 2007. This is a 50 meter barge normally used for cargo and it got transfigured into the unigue cinema on the Danube, The open air location with 350 seats where the audience has the chance to see the films from the river bank increases the seats to 700. This location was used for competition until 2013, but since than it was not possible to have the barge for technical reasons and the terrace of the Agency of waterways started to be used instead. As far as we know, there is no other festival in the world with a similar location.
Barge on the Danube stay as festival's symbol and determines it's further development in terms of inovativity of festival locations.
