An Academy Award nominated film, documentary about Maradona, laureate from Berlin and the winner of Palm d'Or
Third day of Vukovar Film Festival won't go without a new dose of high-quality and awarded films. On the schedule for our audience on our six locations in Vukovar we have prepared a bunch of great movies led by the winner of this year's Cannes, the winner of Palm d'Or – a new film from South Korean director Bong Joon Ho, „Parasite“. One of the most praised films of 2019 whose distribution in Croatia still awaits will be screened tonight at 21:15 in Eltz castle park.
Except Cannes winner, we should also highlight another festival laureate. A fantastic German drama „System Crasher“ directed by Nora Fingscheidt that won two awards and was screened in official competition on this year's Berlinale. The film will be screened at 21:00 on the terrace of the Agency of Waterways and it is surely one of the biggest favorites of this year's VFF.
In documentary film category, today at CineStar at 18:45 and 19:45 we prepared two new treats. The first one being „Ghetto Balboa“, a Hungarian documentary about ex mobster who became boxing coach for troubled young men and who's director Arpad Bodgan will come to greet the audience and say a few words about his work. After „Ghetto Balboa“ we will be screening great (and informative) documentary from Bosnia and Herzegovina „ReGeneration“ directed by Emir Kapetanovic about peace ambassadors made up of Croats, Bosnjaks and Serbs in BiH. Emir will also be our guest in Vukovar and personally present his film to the audience.
Of course, we saved the real deal for the end of the day. At 21:30 on our most attractive location – Magenta 1 Vukovar Waterbus – we will be screening a documentary “Diego Maradona”, a football player who doesn’t need a special introduction. The film was directed by Asif Kapadia, the man behind other high-quality and praised documentaries “Senna” and “Amy”.
From all the other films that will be screened on the third day of the festival on 6 locations in Vukovar we should also highlight “Capernaum” directed by Nadina Labaki that was nominated for this year’s Academy Award in foreign film category. One of the most praised and the most attractive film in the category “French Focus” will be screened at 12:30 in Hrvatski dom Vukovar. The film scored 8.5 on popular site imdb.com according to 20 000 people who voted.
In the category “Norwegian invasion” on the schedule at 17:30 will be praised drama “What will people say” premierely shown on Toronto Film Festival. At 21:30 in CineStar in long feature film category we will show Corneliu Porumboiu’s new film “The Whistlers” that was screened at this year’s Cannes official competition.
